Our Provision

Our provision for KS3 and KS4 students is delivered by qualified teachers for maths/English and science who specialise in working with students who have struggled to engage with education.

Our staff also have extensive experience of working with the families of students in similar situations. We understand the barriers the limite engagement and provide solutions to removing these.

Our Courses

We offer a wide range of subjects to our students ensuring all our learners' passions and interests are catered for; whilst at the same time, preparing them for life as successful and thriving adults.

The Horizons Learning Journey

Our staff will provide each student with access to a core curriculum of maths and English and our students can choose from our wide-ranging curriculum offer to create their own unique learning journey.

In addition we will also provide a range of therapeutic lessons designed to provide opportunities for tangible, successful outcomes for the child (e.g. art/craft/design technology/computing).

Tracking and Monitoring

Schools and agencies involved with the child will all be provided with a weekly report that details engagement, progress and areas for further development.

The Staff Team

We want to give all of our students the very highest level of support. To achieve this, in addition to small class sizes, we also provide pastoral staff and Designated Safeguarding Leads.

To help further enhance engagement across all topics, all of our students are given access to 1:1 support to help develop skills to manage anxiety, self-esteem, and social skills. They also help children understand their emotions and respect the feelings of others.

Support for students with low attendance

We are aware that not all students want to attend school and that as a result, bridges may have broken down. We are able to offer support for this with home visits for these students with the aim of helping them re-engage with school. We have also created time-tables designed to be flexible to support student with low attendance.

Group Size

We are hugely fortunate to be able to provide small class-sizes - with an aim of keeping children in groups of approximately 6 or 7.

Our students receive high levels of individual attention and support and ensure that they can build their confidence and belief in themselves.
