The 2025/26 academic year marked an important milestone for Horizons Independent School, following our opening in September 2025.
As a new specialist school, our first Year 11 students joined us at different points in their education, many having experienced disruption to their learning or periods of non-attendance. We are therefore extremely proud of what our students achieved during our first year.
Five nationally recognised qualification outcomes were achieved, including GCSE, Functional Skills and ASDAN qualifications. Four of these were achieved by students in our first Year 11 cohort.
Our 2025/26 results included:
GCSE Mathematics – Grade 3
NCFE Functional Skills Mathematics – Entry Level 3
NCFE Functional Skills Mathematics – Level 1
ASDAN Personal Social Development – Entry Level 3 Awards
For many of our students, success was about much more than the qualification itself. Re-engaging with education, attending school, completing accredited courses and reaching the point of sitting formal examinations represented significant achievements from their individual starting points.
Our Year 11 leavers successfully progressed to further education and training, including pathways in construction and bricklaying, childcare and sport.
These first results provide an encouraging starting point for Horizons. As our students spend longer with us, we look forward to building on this foundation through an increasingly broad range of GCSE, vocational and alternative recognised qualifications, while continuing to ensure that every young person is supported to be themselves, make friends and aim high.
