ACADEMIC ALTERNATIVE PROVISION

If a student has struggled in particular areas of their curriculum, this can be addressed using our academic alternative provision. liaising with students and appropriate agencies, we can tailor a programme that will help supplement their learning. Whatever the curricular subject, our staff can offer tuition. Our teams have backgrounds in both domestic and international teaching and therefore qualified to present the best learning experience for the student. Our academic provision has foundations in English, maths and science but can additionally incorporate other subjects such as history, geography etc.

THERAPUETIC ALTERNATIVE PROVISION

There is a myriad of reasons for why a student may be enrolled into Alternative Provision. We understand that not everyone will need academic guidance, therefore, here at Horizon, we can provide therapeutic provision in its different forms. Be it arts and crafts, music or gaming, whatever the student needs to bring them a sense of calm, we can bring offer. The centres encapsulate a calm and structured atmosphere that can help a student find a form of stability and give room for them to build confidence and feel secure.

TECHNOLOGY ALTERNATIVE PROVISION

Individual students have individual passions and interests. Knowing that technology can and does inspire young people, Horizon is now developing innovative Technology Alternative Provision. With staff that have a computer science background, students will be able to immerse themselves in the world of coding, technological-based learning, such as virtual world lessons, and electronics. This, coupled with a more academic approach to their days, the students who desire to be apart of this new style of provision will certainly be engaged whilst learning invaluable skills for their future.

OTHER PROVISION

Included in our Alternative Provision, we also have various options and packages. Our flexibility in teaching methodology also means that we can provide one to one tuition either at home or in one of our centres. Other options are extended to;

  • Respite packages – time our of school for short term exclusions.

  • Long term/short term placements – period of time that is agreed upon by the school, students and other agencies.

  • Schedule Flexibility – if it is deemed unpractical or inappropriate for a student to attend daily, we can commit to a more varied and flexible schedule.

  • Partnerships with schools – our staff have been requested by various to schools to attend campus to offer ‘Covid Catch-up’ sessions and the like. Again, due to staffs experience we can offer these sessions for both primary and secondary level students.
